Nahoon Accommodation - Eastern Cape, Amatola & Stormberg

Nahoon, East London, has been developed around the picturesque Eastern Cape Nahoon Beach, East London's most popular beach named after a local Xhosa chief. Famous throughout the South African surfing community for producing some very impressive waves, and host to many national surfing competitions, East London Nahoon Beach's magnificent golden sand runs kilometres to the north, and to a rocky point to the south, which has a constructed boardwalk reaching all the way round to Nahoon Corner, giving one a bird's eye view of the famous East London Nahoon Reef dive spot. With lots of crevices and swim-throughs, Nahoon Reef is an exceptionally beautiful area with lots of reef and sand areas, and the best time to dive this well known Eastern Cape dive site, is when the sea is flat and calm after low tide.
For safe bathing for those who don't want to brave the East london Nahoon Beach surf, the shallow, clear estaury created where the Nahoon River ("Nxaruni" in Xhosa), flows into the sea is an ideal swimming area, or just for relaxing or taking a leisurely walk along the waters edge. The Nahoon River is also popular for paddling, water skiing, and is also a favourite Eastern Cape fishing spot.

Lying on the banks of the Nahoon River, the beautiful upmarket East London Nahoon suburb offers outstanding Nahoon self catering accommodation at 3 Star Kennington Palms. This Nahoon accommodation establishment is centrally situated, close to all amenities, and just down the road from Nahoon Beach.

Where to eat in and around East london, Nahoon:
- Le Petit on Beach Road, Nahoon, offers the most outstanding quality and value for money in East London. For the adventurous eater, matured buffalo, springbok, ostrich and eland can be flambéd to heavenly perfection at your table.

- Zhong Hua for Chinese and Japanese cuisine in Nahoon. Run by Benny who originated from Shanghai four years ago. Zhong Hua's décor is simple, the atmosphere quiet and relaxed, and the food consistently good.

- For a superb leisurely meal and the best cup of coffee you'll find in East London, try Footprints Café (8km north of Nahoon accommodation) nestled among the dunes of the Nahoon Point Nature Reserve. With its superb location, stunning sea views and close proximity to the famous surf spot, Nahoon Reef, it's no wonder Footprints Café has become a favourite eatery among East London holiday makers and locals alike.

The Nahoon Point Nature Reserve is an adventure in itself - the 2.6km stretch of pristine Eastern Cape, East London coastline sports a network of boardwalks that protect the fragile dune field, and leads you to a lookout point where you can see Bat’s Cave, where ancient fossil footprints were discovered. Nahoon Point Nature Reserve's educational centre designed in the shape of a footprint, uncovers the treasure trove surrounding the hoof marks, bird tracks and human footprints on the roof of East london Bat’s Cave. There’s also a display focusing on East London’s famous surfing culture, and the history of shark attacks in the Nahoon East London area.
